This post was directly shared from Buzzfeed, who had this fantastic list of cold & flu remedies. As the author says, whether they actually work or not is up for debate, but they certainly are tasty & will cheer up any winter’s day. And cheer up a sick friend, too! I’m a particular fan of ginger tea & all things ginger, so winter’s suddenly looking a little less bleak right now.

3. Classic Chicken Noodle Soup
A basic, but timeless recipe from Smitten Kitchen’s recipe

5. Sage Tea
Sage is considered a fighter of bacteria, and is often used to battle throat inflammation. Make a cup of tea from fresh or dried sage by using 2 tablespoons (fresh) or 1 tablespoon (dried) in a cup of boiling water. You can add your choice of sweetner, too and put it in a nice teapot or cup so you don’t have to feel like you’re drinking a cup of herbs. Some info on sage can be found here.
6. Asian Noodle Soup (Vegan)
Yum! Soba noodles and tofu – vegan, warm & declious! Get the recipe here.
7. Homemade Cough Remedy
Mix cider vinegar, honey, cayenne, and ginger into a cough syrup that’s guaranteed to taste way better than Dimetapp, even if it’s not a fun purple color. Recipe here.
8. Ginger & Lemon “Cure For Colds” Cake
This recipe is raw and vegan, so it must be extra good for you. It’s quite complicated though, so enlist some assistance from a friend.
9. Spicy Lemon-Ginger “Intensi-Toddy”
This recipe is a more hectic version of basic lemon/honey deal with cayenne pepper, cloves, and cinnamon. You won’t have congestion for long after this!
10. Chicken And Vegetable Wonton Soup
This gingery Asian-inspired soup can be made & frozen to be used at any time. Won-tons can be bought at most asian import stores (try Claremont or Sea Point for a wide range of options).
11. Moxie’s Cold Cure-All
This recipe includes immune-boosting echinacea, so it’s worth drinking even if you’re not sick yet. It tastes good, too.

19. Kimchi, Pork & Tofu Soup (Kimchi Jigae)
Knocking your sinusitis out of the water. Recipe here.
